Running pickleball court rotations with a live queue

Use PickleHuddle’s individual or group queue to call players, finish games, manage breaks and keep the court board up to date.

Start here

Confirm attendance first, call players from the ready queue, and finish each match on the board before assigning the next one.

Choose how players will rotate

Choose “Individual queue” when players should queue separately and rotate with different people. The next four ready players are called in waiting order. This supports social rotation; it does not promise rating-based matchmaking or equal playing time.

Choose “Group queue” when four players should queue and play together. A group becomes eligible when all four are ready. Groups that are still forming or paused do not take an active place in the queue. Decide which approach fits your session before publishing.

Check attendance before starting

A confirmed roster tells you who has a place; check-in tells you who has arrived. Ask players to check in on arrival, and review “Players.” Hosts can check in confirmed players and add walk-in guests through the host controls, subject to available capacity.

Players should only mark themselves ready when they can take the next turn. In group mode, create or join a group after checking in. Check the names and readiness before calling a complete group.

Run one clear cycle on each court

Open “Live court” and choose “Start session” when you are ready. On an available court, use “Call next four” for an individual queue or “Call next group” for a group queue. The board needs enough eligible players or a ready group before it can assign that court.

  1. Call the assigned names and confirm they are heading to the correct court.
  2. When their game ends, select “Finish game” on that court. Save both scores, or choose “Finish without score.”
  3. Check the updated queue before calling the next players. In individual mode the finished players return to the back; group mode keeps the four together.

Handle breaks without calling absent players

Players who are away from the court should use “Take a break.” When they return, “I’m ready” puts them back into readiness rather than letting them skip the waiting players.

In group mode, leaving or pausing releases the group’s queue place. Filling or resuming a ready group puts it at the back. Explain this before the session so players know why a group may move in the queue.

Keep one trustworthy view of the session

Use “Display mode” when you want a larger shared view of the board. Keep an internet connection available. If the app loses connection, reconnect and confirm the current court state before repeating an action.

At the end of the session, finish any active matches before using “End session.” Practise the basic call-and-finish cycle in the demo before your first hosted session; its sample players are not real registrations and the demo does not save a live game.
